Own brief studio work- painting on skin : Life line

Kath Howard (c)
In this piece I focused more on a place which gave my model a more uncomfortable feeling in this case a Hospital. Whilst speaking to her about what she didn't like, Jazz explained her discomfort about the red tubes always there and sometimes being the only thing keeping a person alive. I also played with the coloured direction lines painted on the floors in the hospital but only working with the colour red and directing the with an arrow to her heart. In this particular painting I only worked on a small part of her body making that the focus point of the photo.

Own brief studio work- painting on skin : Mother vine

Kath Howard (c)
Currently I've been creating my own brief based on painting on skin whilst representing an emotional attachment to a particular place. In this photo I worked using my friend Jazz who was a great model to work with! This idea was based around her garden at home and the feelings she has towards it. The jasmine flower representing herself and the vines representing her mother, both needing each other for protection or something to care for. In this painting I used a mixture of green acrylic and masking tape to stick the vines in place and white and grey acrylic for the flowers. The pose reflects the comforting feeling she gains from being in this particular place. Using a plain background , I felt this helped to bring the two things together separating them from anything else, although I will be looking into adding a more industrial background to show how she feels away from this place.
